Application Procedures

The Foreign Affairs Office of Shanxi Normal University is responsible for enrollment, administration and daily living management of foreign students and teachers.boy

Students may directly write or email (waisc2@163.com) the Foreign Affairs Office of SXNU for an application form.  An interactive Adobe PDF of the form can also be downloaded .   

The required medical form can also be downloaded.  Other related information can be mailed upon request.  Domestic and international organizations may also introduce prospective students to SXNU.

Various programs have been tailored, but if your educational organization would like to arrange for a special curriculum design for a group of students, the international department will gladly work with you.

Chinese Language and Culture Study

Shanxi Normal University, Linfen, Shanxi

Basic Study classes covering Chinese language and culture last fro 6 months to 2 years.

Required Courses include:boy

  • Intensive Reading
  • Extensive Reading
  • Chinese Grammar
  • Overview of Chinese Culture

Advanced Study classes last from 6 months to 2 years and include the following required courses:

  • Audio and Visual
  • Chinese Character Writing
  • Contemporary Chinese in Newspaper and Magazine
  • Reading
  • Selected Readings of Chinese Literary Works
  • Study of Chinese Culture

Optional Courses include the following:

  • Calligraphy
  • Painting
  • Chinese History
  • Chinese Geography
  • Study of Chinese Opera and Drama

Short term Classes for the Study of Chinese Language and Culture (lasting between 2 weeks and three months).  Courses include the following:

  • Introduction to Chinese
  • Yellow River Cultural Study and Tour
  • Overview of Traditional Chinese Culture

All apartments have a private bathroom, telephone, TV, air conditioner and are well furnished.

Be aware that the Chinese Yuan is not pegged to the U.S. dollar.  Check for current exchange rates.

If current students have registered to continue their studies in the coming semester, they can remain in student housing for the summer or winter break. This cost is included in the accommodation fees already paid for the coming semester.

Students not continuing have one week after the end of classes to make arrangements.  Assuming there is continued availability, the student can continue to reside  in the school's housing for a reasonable amount of time.  The student will be charged the room rate of 50 RMB per day.  If this is unclear the student should not assume temporary residency is secured and should contact the international department for clarification.
